Shouldn't Livestock Farming be firmly on Bristol Green Capital 2015 agenda?

Shouldn't Livestock Farming be firmly on Bristol Green Capital 2015 agenda?

| by Editor

With Bristol being the Green Capital of Europe in 2015, the city is flooded with initiatives to green up various elements that form the fabric of this great city, including businesses, organisations, services, schools, shops and other institutions. But the biggest reason for global warminglivestock farming – is completely and staggeringly left off the agenda to our huge frustration.

What exactly is the Bristol Green Capital committee doing to put Livestock Farming firmly on the agenda? Livestock farming accounts for more than 50% of water use and creates over 50% of greenhouse emissions – should we not be seeing the BGC Committee take the lead in raising awareness of this? The solution to these problems is simple – go vegan. So why doesn’t the Committee promote this as the best solution?

As organisers of some of Europe’s biggest vegan events, we feel that 2015 should really be the year when Bristol seizes the opportunity to promote vegan living as an effective and feasible way of greening up our environment. Obviously the BGC committee haven’t and we feel obliged to put out a strong and consistent go vegan message in this momentous year to make sure that our fellow earthlings take responsibility for their own actions and ensure a future for generations to come by choosing a vegan lifestyle as a matter of priority.

Going vegan has never been easier – especially with so many amazing vegan options out there right now. VegfestUK Bristol on May 23rd 24th at the Amphitheatre showcases some of the latest vegan products on the market from 140 stalls and 15 caterers, plus stacks of cookery demos, talks, workshops, presentations, designed to help people see just how viable it is to go vegan, live vegan and stay vegan.

For those who are hooked on VegfestUK after a barnstorming event at the Brighton Centre at the end of March, make sure to come down to Bristol Amphitheatre in May, or visit our remaining shows in London (October 10th 11th) and Scotland (December 5th 6th). There’re also loads of other quality vegan festivals all over the UK – see for details. And of course stay tuned to the Vegfest Express right here for the latest vegan news across the globe!

Finally please make sure to take matters into your own hands and share this blog liberally on Facebook and Twitter to get the vegan message as far wide as possible in the year of Bristol Green Capital 2015!
