A couple of brand-new vegan festivals in Scotland are set to fuel the already rapidly growing vegan market in the UK.
With a combined total of nearly 200 exhibitors and around 12,000 visitors expected at the Edinburgh Vegan Festival on August 8th and Vegfest Scotland in Glasgow on December 5th 6th, vegan businesses and independent traders in particular are set to benefit hugely from the massive exposure of their vegan produce to swaths of people seeking the best of the vegan lifestyle, including both consumers and also professionals from the Natural Products and Hospitality trade.
The benefits extend also to the dozens of vegan-friendly restaurants, cafes, bars, bistros, hotels and B&B’s present in Scotland’s 2 biggest cities which will be visited by waves of people from not only within Scotland but also south of the border, thus helping the Scottish economy massively.
Vegfest Scotland takes place at the SEC Centre in Glasgow in December, and is organised by VegfestUK, who have run the biggest and most successful vegan events in Europe for over a decade, with weekend shows at London Olympia, Brighton and Bristol. The Scotland show is already shaping up nicely and looks to be a permanent fixture in the calendar for years to come, with around 140 stalls and near to 10 ,000 visitors attending.
And before that, in August, The Edinburgh Vegan Festival takes place for the first time at the Roxburghe Hotel in Edinburgh city centre. The event is organised by the team behind the Newcastle Vegan Festival, and will see around 80 stalls and up to 2,000 visitors for the day-long festivities.
Vegfest Scotland organiser Tim Barford is clearly thrilled to be taking Vegfest to Scotland. ‘There’s been a very positive response from the people of Scotland to our event since we announced several months ago, and stall bookings are very healthy. There’s a big interest in all things vegan and compassionate and we are thrilled to be a part of that. Going vegan is easy and it’s never been easier!’
And it’s also good to note that both the Edinburgh Vegan Festival and Vegfest Scotland are first-year events run by independent family firms, rather than corporate organisations. It’s exciting indeed to witness the appearance of not only 1 but 2 such events in Scotland, which further demonstrates that veganism is a huge growth market to tap into right now all over the UK and Scotland.
And with vegan products made in the UK now being distributed and retailed in European countries such as Sweden and Germany, the future is indeed vegan in Europe if not the globe!
