We’re delighted to welcome radio co-host Marcus Dredge of the first UK-based vegan radio show/podcast The Species Barrier to speak and debate at the first-ever People’s Vegan Activists Summit at our London event this October.
Marcus is a UK-based anti-speciesism advocate. He co-founded a grassroots, vegan advocacy organisation (Vegan Outreach Lincoln East Midlands) in addition to co-presenting The Species Barrier with his partner Ruth Sanderson-Dredge. The programme seeks to question how humans interact with the planet and the other animals who call it home.
He takes a deep green ecological position and provides a rare focus on how human numbers greatly impact animal rights. Be it habitat loss, species extinction or increased demand for farmed animal exploitation, Marcus argues that this important issue is largely ignored in the movement.
At VegfestUK London, Marcus will engage in the following activities:
- At 1pm in the Talks Room, he’ll speak about why Population Matters to Animal Rights
- At 3pm in the Workshops Room, Ruth will elaborate on the effectiveness of their media work to visitors interested in spreading the vegan word
- At 4pm in the Auditorium, he’ll debate against Single Issue Campaigns alongside Prof. Gary L. Francione. He and Gary will come up against pro-SIC’s speakers Tony Wardle (Viva!) and Victoria Eisermann (the K-9 Angels).
Marcus will be joined at the Activists Summit by a number of other renowned activists including author and speaker Dr. Melanie Joy, activist and blogger Tobias Leenaert, scholar Kim Stallwood, activist Ronnie Lee, author and presenter Victoria Moran, activist and business coach Katrina Fox, activist Dobrusia Gogloza, plus others TBC very soon. The Activists Summit features keynote speeches, lectures, workshops/discussions/debates as well as documentaries for visitors to gain an insight into animal rights ethics and effective vegan advocacy.
VegfestUK London has it all for everyone interested in vegan lifestyles. In addition to information about effective vegan activism, the show also consists of food and shopping from 200 stalls and 14 caterers loaded with vegan products, entertainment from Comedy Hours and Music, a Vegan Bodybuilding Contest on the Saturday, family fun in the Kids Area, health education from the People’s Vegan Health Summit on the Saturday, plus insights into holistic health from the LifeWell SuperHub, cookery tips from Cookery Demos and the Living Raw Zone, on top of other Talks, a Teen VGN Zone for teenage veggies/vegans to network as well as a Mature Zone on vegan living for those in their advanced years.
