VegfestUK - 10 Contributions to the UK vegan movement in 2015 - 7) We organise, promote and present the prestigious VegfestUK Awards

| by Editor | Posted in Vlog

The VegfestUK Awards are the most prestigious awards within the vegan circles, and now in their 10th year in 2016......celebrating the very best vegan people, projects, businesses, products, organisations and achievements every year with a public vote that culminates in a glitzy but über cool awards ceremony at Olympia.

VegfestUK organises the awards, promotes them and presents them entirely for free, ensuring free promotion and recognition for literally hundreds of nominees every year – in 2015, 15 categories with 10 nominees in each saw a total of 150 different nominations for an award.

And it’s yet another example of what VegfestUK specialises in – and leads the way within the UK vegan movement by some stretch. We talk everyone up and shine the light on everything positive within the vegan movement that we can find – for free. For the knowledge that we are helping the vegan movement grow – together, as one. That’s something a bit special.

“The awards are a lot of fun,” add VegfestUK founder and organiser Tim Barford, “and it’s a very excellent chance to talk people up in a wonderful way. It’s really something to see the big firms and the ‘market leaders’ in the same categories as some of the up and coming and brand new vegan businesses, and really something special when a new business wins. It’s a lot of work for our team, and not easy – it’s hard not to make a mistake, especially in ensuring everything is 100% vegan in every department, and we come in for our share of criticism. But come the awards ceremony that’s all put to one side, and we have a lot of fun presenting them along with my best pal Karin Ridgers, and a guest celebrity comedian (this year Jake Yapp, last year Andrew O’Neill and the year before that Dave Spikey). I love the awards – it’s the icing on the cake and incredible to think we are completing ten years of them in 2016. It’s a wonderful way to give a little back to a community which gives so much.’’

Mary–Anne Mills from Heavenly Organics Skin Care is a classic example of a smaller firm that won their category up against some household names, and she was understandably ecstatic at the news she had won the award  ‘’For my business, VegfestUK festivals are THE events of the year to attend. The team are so supportive to smaller businesses and I was bowled over to be nominated in their best vegan bodycare and cosmetics category - and then to win it - wow! I also love how supportive the team is of other vegan festivals and grassroots campaigns.  They are so passionate about veganism and of spreading the message far and wide. Thank you guys, for all you do!’’

Let's do this! Day 2 at VegfestUK London 2015!!

Richard Cooper from Fentimans was one of the deserved winners this year ‘’October was the first time for Fentimans exhibiting at Vegfest which we found to be a really friendly event with lots of engaging consumers. We were also really pleased to receive the Vegfest award in 2015 for Best Soft Drink – this was the icing on the cake for us after a great weekend!’’

And Alex Douglas from The Vegan Society was especially pleased to see the Society win their award, up against the likes of Teen VGN, Viva!, Fat Gay Vegan, Veganuary and Animal Aid  ‘’We were especially honored to win a VegfestUK Award for ‘Best Lifestyle Website’ at this year’s London event too!’’

Here’s a short video of the 2015 Awards ceremony at Olympia London featuring comedian Jake Yapp, Karin Ridgers from Veggie Vision, and VegfestUK manager Tim Barford.
