Vegfest Scotland 2015 VISITOR SURVEY RESULTS

Vegfest Scotland 2015 VISITOR SURVEY RESULTS

| by Editor

Big thanks to everyone who has completed our recent visitors survey on their experiences at Vegfest Scotland 2015. We have received altogether 166 feedback forms either online or at the event.

There were altogether 7,500 visitors at the event over both days. Based on a combination of experience from previous shows as well as anecdotal evidence, we estimate that 1,000 of these people visited Vegfest Scotland on both Saturday and Sunday, leaving actually 6,500 distinct individuals at the event.

Inferring from the percentages obtained from our survey based on this sample size of 6,500 individuals, we’ve made a few deductions on these aspects:

New Vegfest Visitors

Over 85% of our visitors were completely new to Vegfest – that translates to over 5,525 visitors from Vegfest Scotland 2015!

Those returning to Vegfest Scotland next year

Over 96% of these individuals said they would return to Vegfest Scotland in 2016! This corresponds to over 6,240 repeat visitors at the SECC in 2016.

Possible new followers of the Vegfest Express

Over 70% hadn’t heard of the Vegfest Express before Vegfest Scotland 2015 – so there’re potentially over 4,550 visitors to the event who are new to our breaking vegan news website!

Number of those who were not vegan before the event

Roughly 36% were not vegan before the event – so our inference translates this to approximately 2,340 people who ate animal products before Vegfest Scotland 2015.

From the percentages gathered in this question,

  • roughly 28% (which translates to 1,820 individuals) were veggie before the event, and
  • approx 8% (corresponding to approx 520 individuals) were meat-eaters before the show.

How many people are looking to go vegan after the show?

Results to question 9 indicate that, of the 8% of all individuals at the event who were meat-eaters beforehand:

  • about 85% (or approx 442 individuals) indicated that they’d make some changes to their diet
  • roughly 15% of these meat-eaters decided to go vegan after the event – so a total of 6,500 x 8% x 15% = 78 meat-eaters decided to become vegans!

Results to question 16 (corresponding question for veggies) show that, of the 28% individuals who were veggies before Vegfest Scotland 2015:

  • very encouragingly, roughly 90% of them (i.e. 1,638 individuals) indicated that they’d make some changes to their diet
  • roughly 30% decided to go vegan – this translates to 6,500 x 28% x 30% = 546 new vegans from this group.

On combining these two sets of results from the meat-eating and veggie groups before the event:

  • All of the approx 2,340 people who were not vegan beforehand decided to move towards a vegan diet
  • 624 people decided to go vegan after the event

Big thanks to all our survey respondents who have left us some valuable feedback on enhancing the event further. We really value your comments in our efforts to make the event even better next year. And mainly thanks to all your support, Vegfest will be coming back to the SECC in Glasgow – dates TBC very soon.
