Despite some sustained showers over the weekend May 21st 22nd, around 13,000 people visited the 14th edition of the VegfestUK Bristol vegan festival at the Amphitheatre, to enjoy good food, good music and good company.
With a house party featuring Marshall Jefferson, Alison Limerick, Adamski and Criss Cross on the Saturday, followed by an EDM / reggae fest with Stereo MC’s, Macka B and Andy Compton (feat. Celestine & Sabrina Chyld), the musical part of the event in the evenings was awe-inspiring and persuaded many to stay the full course of the day after a sumptuous feast of vegan food and information during the daytime.
The daytime features, which have been the bedrock of all VegfestUK shows, included something for all, such as shopping from around 200 stalls, education and information from dozens of talks, cookery demos and workshops, as well as socialising and family entertainment from kids cookery classes and family fun.
With the recent news that over 500,000 people in the UK follow a vegan diet, the healthy attendance at this year’s VegfestUK Bristol event in the challenging weather demonstrates an ever-growing interest in all things vegan at the moment.
The organisers added, “Obviously we’re thrilled to see that so many people still flocked to our outdoor event in spite of the changeable weather conditions. This goes to show how popular our events have become and how our followers go to great lengths to enjoy vegan community festivals like Vegfest.
“This wouldn’t be possible without our loyal supporters of course, including all our sponsors, stallholders, contractors, volunteers, visitors, plus many more that we couldn’t include in a single quote. Big love and thanks to you all!”
The event is sponsored by: Essential Trading Co-operative, Bute Island Foods, Koko Dairy Free, JASON Natural Care, VeggieVision and Yaoh.
