Many thanks to all those of you who cast your votes for your favourite vegan products, groups, individuals etc. over the past 4 weeks, ever since voting for the awards went live on August 1st 2016...
There have been on average 1,500 votes cast in each of altogether 16 categories, which shows the level of interest there currently is in all things vegan. There have been a few captivating battles developing over the past 4 weeks too which are worth a mention:
Best Vegan “Meat”
A number of new and unique vegan meat substitutes are doing nicely so far, with companies such as Dees Wholefoods, Dragonfly Foods and Wheaty shooting up in the poll and developing what is expected to be an interesting contest.
Best Vegan Bodycare / Cosmetics / Housecare
This category has proven to be a close one to call, with the variety of products on show making this category an interesting contest. Lovely to see independent firms such as Bohemian Chic Minerals, Honesty Cosmetics, Tropic and Yaoh mixing it up with more established firms in particular!
Best Vegan Drink
In the 2 weeks since our last update, we have seen great strides made by the quintet of Juice Warrior, Equinox Kombucha, Pitfield Brewery, Club Mate and Pure on Raw, which are making this section more and more unpredictable.
Best Vegan Blogger / Info Website
Excellent to see grassroots independents and national groups both getting mentions in this category and developments over the past 2 weeks have made this category very difficult to call indeed at the moment. Expect some late surges from the likes of Teen VGN, On Human Relations with Other Sentient Beings, VeggieVision and the Vegan Lifestyle Association in the coming weeks...
Best Vegan Footwear
How brilliant it is to see the options now available for those looking for a nice pair of vegan footwear these days! The rise in awareness of the increase in vegan footwear varieties is reflected in our poll so far, with the likes of NOAH – Italian Vegan Shoes, Freerangers, Freet Footwear and Bourgeois Bohème making themselves heard amongst other traditional favourites in the vegan footwear scene.
Best Vegan Snacks
A lot has happened in the 4 weeks ever since voting started, especially with the Snacks category. We should not rule out any late drama with recent surges made by the likes of GOOD Full Stop, Perk!er, Good Heavens It's Jeavons, Creative Nature Superfood snack bars and Cocofina snack bars.
Best Chilled Vegan Product
With the likes of The Nude Spoon, Frill, Okobay and Jollyum making up some valuable ground in the past week, and nearing the end of the holiday season, never say never for anyone in this category!
Best Vegan Chocolate
Over recent years, independent vegan chocolate makers have come up in leaps and bounds, and it’s nice to see independents such as Solkiki Chocolatemaker, Ethicoco, Trishul Raw Chocolate and Cocoafeliz challenging for the top alongside more established brands in our league table so far.
Best Vegan Vlogger
One of the new additions to this year’s Award Categories sees a number of highly creative and dynamic individual vegan vloggers coming up with great video content in the chase for this maiden trophy. Great shouts to Hench Herbivore, Banana Warrior Princess, Rehana SARA and Aisha Ponders as well as the other contestants for not only creating an absorbing contest but also being shining lights for creative vegan activism!
Best Innovative Vegan Product
Another new addition to this year’s Award Categories sees some new, up-and-coming and innovative vegan products. Every product on the category has turned a number of heads, and it’s encouraging to see the likes of Badgers Dairy Free, Lifefood and Amrutha gathering an increasing amount of voters in addition to many other excellent new vegan produce on the list of nominees.
There are plenty of quality candidates in every category too and with 5 weeks left before voting shuts, they would all love your support with your vote!
Voting closes at midnight sharp on September 30th 2016. The results will be announced at the Awards Ceremony at VegfestUK London – taking place on Saturday October 22nd 2016 (time TBA), with trophies presented by Karin Ridgers of VeggieVision TV alongside John Robb (of Goldblade and The Membranes).
