No-one in the human rights movement would feel compelled to say that they are a "rights-based human rights advocate." That would sound absurd. However, anyone wanting to make clear that the philosophy of animal rights is important needs to use a title like "rights-based animal rights."
This session explores how and why the animal movement is a philosophical mess. It has been that way for years yet seems to function adequately. Perhaps there is no "problem" after all? Does it even matter whether animal advocates have a philosophical position that guides their words and actions?
