Brand-new showcase of vegan Youtubers video work at VegfestUK Brighton

Brand-new showcase of vegan Youtubers video work at VegfestUK Brighton

| by Editor | Posted in Vlog

Youtube has become a really dynamic and interactive platform for promoting veganism and discussions on vegan matters, and this is highlighted in a large quantity of bite-size and quality Youtube videos produced by a number of high-calibre vloggers in recent years. Visitors to VegfestUK Brighton coming up on March 11th 12th 2017 at the Brighton Centre have a chance to sample some of these amazing videos in the brand-new Vloggers Corner, with topics ranging from nutrition, health, athleticism, to animal rights, activism, travel and many others, which are suitable for both beginners to veganism and families with kids, as well as seasoned vegans and passionate vegan activists. Some of the video producers will also be presenting their work in person too.

First up amongst the lineup of Youtubers live at the event is Vegan Geezer, who has been creating educational, informative and inspirational videos via his YouTube channel, which includes family vlogs, street interviews, speeches, spoken word poetry, lifestyle videos, food, vegan tips and more. Amongst videos to be presented by Vegan Geezer are “Vegan Poem” – which emphasises the importance of the vegan community being united, and recognising the necessity to continue to promote veganism positively – as well as “What My 5 Year Old Vegan Eats In a Day | JOJO AT LEGOLAND!!!!” – which documents a day of my 5 year old son eating vegan food whilst at the Legoland amusement park:

Next up is vegan triathlete Dave Sheahan who will be showcasing a couple of his video work. “What I Eat in A Day Vegan” gives a general overview of the food he consumed that day as well as how he ate around his training for maximum effectiveness and results (fat loss in this case). “Diary Of A Plant Based Athlete” gives specific details about all his training for the week that had just finished and then details of his daily food.

In his video “How To Plan Vegan Bodybuilding Meals | High Protein”, Vegan bodybuilder Hench Herbivore details exactly how he plans vegan bodybuilding meals for himself and for his PT clients. His preference is for whole food ingredients which have the further benefit of providing us with the best health! And in “You Are Doing Activism Wrong!”, Hench Herbivore provides an off the cuff chat about the vegan community and the current state of the activism scene – why some vegans might not be willing to be more vocal yet and why some criticise activists while doing no advocacy of their own...

A 2016 roundup of some of the highlights from street interviews is provided by Earthling Ed in his video “Vegan Spends a Year Talking to Meat Eaters”. Earthling Ed also asked the public what animals they'll be eating for Christmas at Winter Wonderland 2016, in his other video work “Eating Reindeer for Christmas Dinner?”:

Why is it that many of us love and make friendships with animals, but simultaneously eat them and pay for their slaughter? This concept of cognitive dissonance is highlighted by vegan artist and Youtuber Aisha Eveleigh in her video “What Is Your Favourite Animal TO EAT?? Street Interviews!”. In her other video “Feeding the public 'DOG CHEESE' | PRANK!! [Part 1]”, two pranksters decided to let the public try their new special cheese made from the milk of dogs! Okay... Actually it's just Vegan cheese (few!), but how do people react??

In addition to the aforementioned vloggers presenting their videos live at the event, we also have the kind permission of a number of other vegan vloggers who can’t be with us at the event to showcase their Youtube work in the Vloggers Corner. Here’re some amazing videos from these vloggers that we can look forward to...

Politicians tell us climate change is all going to be ok. But how much of what we hear can we believe? The short film “DOUBLESPEAK- A FILM ABOUT CLIMATE CHANGE” by vegan video producer and events organiser Damien Clarkson explores the contradictions made by politicians when it comes to addressing the huge threat of climate change.

How can we enjoy travelling as a vegan? In the video “HOW TO: CHEAP VEGAN TRAVEL actually have fun...”, vlogger Cheap Lazy Vegan shares some of her best travel tips for vegans, especially for those of us who want to save a little money. Along the thread of saving money as a vegan, Veganism has a bad reputation for being expensive, but that couldn't be further from the truth. In her video “TOP 10 TIPS: HOW TO SAVE MONEY ON A VEGAN DIET”, Cheap Lazy Vegan shares her top 10 tips on how to save money on a vegan diet:

For those looking for tips on optimal plant-based nutrition, look no further than the video “4 Vegan Athletes Share Top Nutrition Tips” by Vegan Family TV, a British family who share daily videos showing what they eat and how they live to keep them feeling healthy and looking fit without harming animals or the planet! They also won the Best Vegan Vlogger Award at the VegfestUK Awards 2016. Some might wonder what children can eat on a plant-based diet? In the video “VEGAN KID: What I Eat in a Day | British 5 Year Old”, the 5-year-old daughter of the couple behind Vegan Family TV shows all of the delicious foods which she eats during the course of the day. Plus, If you don't eat meat, milk, cheese, eggs and honey what on earth is left? In the video “VEGAN ALTERNATIVES: Meat, Dairy, Eggs & Honey MORE”, Vegan Family TV explains all of the vegan alternatives to these foods and more!

Vegan feminist and excellent Youtuber Rehana Sara has kindly offered 3 videos of hers for the Vloggers Corner. In “Dear Vegetarians (a poem)”, she outlined why being vegetarian is not enough for both herself when she was still a veggie and the millions of vegetarians out there, and why we should be vegan if we really care about animals. In “Are we really so civilised? // Manchester Pig Save All Day Vigil”, Rehana shows just a few minutes from a first all-day vigil outside Tulip Ltd slaughterhouse, Ashton. As the pigs arrived, many were there to bear witness to their last moments. In “Mind Your Vegan Language”, Rehana reflects on the importance of language in our advocacy and discusses what's better for vegan advocacy - softly softly or harsh and direct?

Rising star Klaus Mitchell (a.k.a. Plant Based News) has 3 videos in store for the VegfestUK audience at Brighton. First up is “EPIC: New 2017 Documentary Showcases The Vegan Trifecta”, providing a trailer to the cinematic documentary EATING OUR WAY TO EXTINCTION: Exposing The True Cost Of Eating Animals. “MEDIA vs VEGANISM: EXPOSING THE BIAS [Vevolution Speech]” is a media speech presented by Klaus at the Vevolution 2016 event, at which he unravels, uproots and exposes the misinformation surrounding veganism in the mainstream media. And while veganism is breaking growth and sales records worldwide, Klaus looks at how industry are pushing back in his video “Corporate Leaders In Panic As Vegan Market Soars”:

In the video “Is horseback riding exploitative?”, produced by Vegan Publishers, Ren Hurst, author of Riding on the Power of Others, discusses this question. Vegan Publishers also has another video “3 year old explains veganism” which debunks the myth that veganism is not for kids and kids can’t understand what being vegan means:

In the words of vegan activist Michael Goodchild a.k.a. The Vegan Activist, “The real difficulty in being Vegan doesn’t involve food. The hardest part about being Vegan is coming face to face with the darker side of humanity and trying to remain hopeful. It’s trying to understand why otherwise good and caring people continue to participate in needless violence against animals – just for the sake of their pleasure or convenience.” Find out more in his video “The Hardest Part about Being Vegan”:

VGN Summer Camp – The UK's FIRST and ONLY vegan lifestyle summer camp for teens and young people – is back! This video below, produced by the organisers Teen VGN, also one of the UK’s fastest growing non-profit vegan organisation, previews this exciting event coming up from August 21st - 26th 2017 at Margam Discovery Centre in Port Talbot. You can register your interest today at

In this video, recorded from Vevolution by vegan Youtuber Anneka Svenska, Clea Grady from Veganuary talks about why compassionate people should never ever be seen to be putting the pressure on people - we should be mindful, compassionate and kind at all times instead.

SEASPIRACY is a short, eye-opening documentary created by The Friendly Activist. The 14-minute movie is packed full with data and facts about fishing and how the ingestion of fish is not only ruining our planet and its own oceans but is incredibly detrimental to our health. It also covers the forgotten victims, fish, are sentient beings who suffer from pain and stress when taken out of their natural environment. In another speech by The Friendly Activist, he explains why Environmentalism without Veganism fails:

Do Fish Have Feelings? Vegan Youtuber, artist and activist Bite Size Vegan discusses whether fish can feel pain and how even though they look really different than us, they have families, friends, and feelings! By not eating fish, YOU can be a superhero to fish families everywhere!

In her video “Kidnapped At Birth | Draw My Life”, Bite Size Vegan tells the story of a dairy cow and her baby sent to the veal industry. This is where your milk comes from. This is not an isolated incident.

Eggs are an everyday staple for people all around the world. From breakfast to baked goods to countless cultural dishes, eggs couldn’t be more universally ordinary and unremarkable. But beyond their polished surfaces and convenient packaging lies the truth of their production. In the harsh light of reality, the everyday is revealed as extreme. This 4-minute video “EGGS: The Extreme Reality” presents the truth about eggs.

Vegans can be quite passionate about our beliefs and really want everyone around us to “get it” too. This can sometimes translate into almost comically bizarre behaviour. While it usually comes from a genuine place, it’s still fun to laugh at ourselves sometimes. Bite Size Vegan’s video “How NOT To Make Someone Vegan” presents a ridiculous showcase of over-the-top and extreme vegan conversion tactics.
