One of Leicester’s landmark event venues Athena will play host to an exhilarating vegan festival on April 22nd 2017, with a range of activities set to draw thousands to the allure of vegan festivals and a compassionate vegan way of life.
With veganism and vegan festivals spreading like wildfire at the moment, it is the hope of the organisers that this exciting event will debunk the age-old myths about how difficult it is to be vegan, and showcase the ever-increasing accessibility of veganism, and put veganism firmly on the map of Leicester, the East Midlands and beyond!
What’s on at the event
Be prepared for masses of vegan treats from 100 colourful stalls, including a number of handpicked caterers serving global vegan cuisines, plus over a dozen talks and cookery demos giving you the ideas you need to succeed in staying vegan after the festival. Further activities TBA on the festival’s Facebook page here...
Whether you’re a complete newbie to veganism, or you have been vegan for a few years, coming on your own or bringing a vegan-curious friend or family member, you would be hard-pushed to resist the mouthwatering combination of Indian, Greek, Mexican and Middle Eastern food, vegan versions of the traditional meat- and dairy-based hot dogs, burgers, pizzas and pies, on top of rejuvenating juices, smoothies and salads...
Meanwhile, shopaholics will love the string of special offers on vegan “meats”, “cheeses”, “milks”, cakes, trifles, chocolates, condiments, vegan-themed T-shirts, merchandises, jewellery, plus many more vegan produce TBA on the festival’s Facebook page.
There will be a huge seated cafe area upstairs so everyone can go and sit and chill out with all the amazing food and socialise with like-minded souls under one roof :)
The festival is 100% not-for-profit, with ALL proceeds going to the UK-registered charity Miracle’s Mission, a group that work tirelessly to help sick, injured or abandoned animals in need through their first TNR (trap, neuter, release) project taking place in Sabah, Borneo, Malaysia. They also raise awareness of the need for stray dogs to be neutered, spayed and rehomed, educate the public about adopting rather than buying pets, and protect animals as best as we can worldwide. You can find out more about their good work on their website www.miraclesmission.org and Facebook page, and donate to them via the link here.
