Plamil Foods, Bute Island, Yaoh and Essential Trading sponsoring 15th annual vegan event in Bristol

Plamil Foods, Bute Island, Yaoh and Essential Trading sponsoring 15th annual vegan event in Bristol

| by Editor

VegfestUK Bristol, now in its 15th year, and attracting 15,000 visitors over 2 days, is one of Europe’s biggest vegan events. Held in the historic city centre Harbourside area with a backdrop of tall ships and docks, this much-loved flagship vegan events continues to attract the support of the some of the UK’s leading original vegan companies.

Plamil Foods, founded by Arthur Ling in the early 60’s, was the UK’s first vegan company and producers of soya milk and plant-based alternatives to margarine, mayonnaise and of course their award-winning, much-adored range of vegan chocolates. Recently they have launched their new range of “So Free” chocolates and will be at the Bristol event sampling to an ever-increasing crowd of chocolate-loving vegans.

Meanwhile, Bute Island Foods have been producing vegan cheeses since the early 1980’s on their 100% vegan factory on the Isle of Bute. Their Sheese brand is widely available in many independent health stores, including Wild Oats and Harvest in Bristol, and recently they have seen new ranges launched in Tesco and Sainsbury’s under own label brands. Bute Island have been staunch supporters of VegfestUK Bristol and are now sponsoring the event for the 11th year running.

Yaoh was founded in 2002 as one of the UK’s original hemp companies, and likewise, have been a big part of the development of VegfestUK Bristol over the last 15 years. Yaoh has a new range of vegan lip balms out which will be showcasing at Bristol. With further vegan bodycare products to be launched on the horizon (at VegfestUK Trade London in October), the future is bright for Yaoh, and no doubt they will be hoping for an equally bright weekend at Bristol with their outdoor stall including hemp sunblocks as well as moisturisers, bodycare, dehulled hemp seeds and organic hemp oil.

Essential Trading Co-operative have been an intrinsic part of the growth of the vegan way of life in the UK over the last 40 years, responsible for shifting untold tonnage of lentils, pasta, grains and other vegan wholefoods throughout the UK. Based up in Fishponds in Bristol, Essential have been regular visitors to VegfestuK Bristol over 15 years and many times have dug deep to support this community event which showcases the best of a vegan way of life to tens of thousands of people.

Taking place on May 20th 21st 2017 at the Amphitheatre, VegfestUK Bristol consists of a daytime event packed with quality vegan food, produce, merchandise, information and festival fun, followed by live headline music in the evenings.

The daytime event (11am - 6pm Saturday, 11:30am - 6pm Sunday) is packed with 180 stalls (including 15 caterers and 5 bars serving all day), plus education from nearly 50 talks and cookery demos, a kids area with cookery classes, face painting, bubble making and magic shows, plus live music from 2 stages.

The evening event (after 6pm on both Saturday and Sunday) welcomes some tasty headliners including Robin S, Danny Rampling, Rozalla and Nicky Holloway on Saturday, followed by Dub Pistols, ZionRuts and The Scribes on Sunday, supported by a number of other amazing artists.

Advance tickets are £6 per day and £10 for the whole weekend, plus small booking fees. You can buy yours now at:
