Bristol welcomes reggae/dance giants Dub Pistols at huge annual vegan festival on May 21st 2017

VegfestUK fans who love a party have so many things to look forward to at this year’s Bristol edition on May 20-21 – the smashing headliners will make sure that many kindred souls pay a visit to the iconic Amphitheatre and stay throughout the event, all day and night, drenched in the party atmosphere and upbeat tunes beamed out live from the sound systems and amplifiers amidst dozens of caterers and bars.

If the calibre of musical lineup on Saturday at VegfestUK Bristol this year is anything to go by, Vegfesters need not think twice before returning to the event on the Sunday immediately afterwards, with reggae/dance legends Dub Pistols descending upon Bristol Harbourside and providing a memorable night out for thousands of visitors.

In the own words of the Dub Pistols, “Sometimes you have to go through the mill to realise why you were put on this Earth. So it is with the Dub Pistols, the reggae-breaks-jungle mashup, the gangster-swaggering festival stalwarts whose rollercoaster story reads like a rock’n’roll cautionary tale on a grand scale.”

Over an 18-year career, the Dub Pistols have worked with heroes like The Specials, Busta Rhymes, Horace Andy, Madness and Gregory Isaacs. They’ve burned through different members and hundreds of thousands of pounds on assorted capers and hedonism. It should have been a recipe for oblivion, but the band that started out in the mid-90s with Barry DJ’ing while musicians jammed over the top has metamorphosed into a mighty reggaematic bass-driven live machine, a super-tight festival regular that keeps winning over new fans at Glastonbury, Bestival, Beat-Herder and across Europe. Their latest album ‘Return Of The Pistoleros’ is out now via Sunday Best Recordings.

Get a feel of their powerful and uplifting beats from one of their many music videos below:

Supporting the Dub Pistols on Sunday evening will be Bristol-based hip-hop group The Scribes, as well as reggae band ZionRuts who are coming all the way from South Africa to play at this amazing show.

Of course, festival lovers looking for a feast of food and good vibes alongside the quality headline music will not be disappointed as there will be up to 200 stalls including 20 caterers and 5 bars, a string of special offers and free samples. During the day (before 6pm on each of Saturday and Sunday) there will also be around 50 talks and cookery demos, cookery classes for kids, clay workshops, walkabout entertainers, balloon making, face painting, live music from 2 stages and more! Above all, every slice of food and every droplet of drink from the event is 100% vegan.

If you’re thinking of whether to come to the Saturday part of the event too, remember that the likes of Robin S, Danny Rampling, Rozalla, Nicky Holloway and others will be headlining Saturday evening amidst the backdrop of a “Show Me Love” party in honour of the 40th anniversary of Animal Aid – one of the UK’s biggest vegan campaign groups. Full event programme of the event will be available to view shortly at:
