Vegan Norty Puds review by VegfestUK team

Vegan Norty Puds review by VegfestUK team

2018-02-15
| by Editor | Posted in VegfestUK Brighton 2018

The VegfestUK team have had the kind privilege of being invited to try out Elspeth Kitchen’s latest new Vegan Norty Puds – a range of delicious handcrafted pudding pots made in Bristol in 3 different flavours. And obviously, we are delighted to be given the chance to rate this trio and showcase them to the wider vegan community.

Of course, one of the biggest pitfalls of every food tasting session is feeling overwhelmingly hungry after every caress on the taste buds, and this is exactly what happened to one of the tasting team who took total control of the tasting and devoured every scrap of goodness in the puds. The VegfestUK team are all big fans of raw vegan desserts and Elspeth’s latest invention was both luscious and uplifting, capable of transforming one’s day instantly with every taste of them.

Below is a quick summary of the 3 flavours involved:

Salted Choc – Gooey date caramel with handcrafted chocolate

This is delightfully rich and smooth with thick layers of gooey dates interspersed with handmade raw chocolate and a crunchy gluten-free oat base.

Bana-Norty – banana and gooey date no-cheese cheesecake

For those Norty banoffee addicts... A crunchy oaty base layered with a smooth, creamy, no-cheese cheesecake and Elspeth’s secret banana date filling.

Chia Me Up – Zingy lemon & chia seed no-cheese cheesecake

For everyone that needs chia’ring up... Crunchy nutty base layered with a super smooth zesty lemon pud and a river of chia seeds running through the middle for added bite.

Being part of the VegfestUK team can be an unrelenting task, and none more so when we get asked to review something as delectable as Elspeth’s new range of raw vegan desserts – the new Norty Puds range. Straws were drawn and the 3 brave VegfestUK team members who drew the short ones spent the next half hour thoroughly experiencing all 3 puds. Well, not quite half hour, as it happens one team member devoured 2 and a half puddings almost instantly and the other 2 team members only got limited access before they disappeared for good. Fortunately, that was enough to set the taste buds dancing with feedback as follows...

Pete ate the lot – he loved them, truthfully he couldn’t decide between the 3 of them, so he clearly felt obliged to keep trying them all in order to make a fair and informed decision. In the end, it was either Chia Me Up or the Salted Choc to take first spot, although by the look of it, the Bana-Norty wasn’t far behind.

Alan did manage to get a little bit of a look-in, and sneaked a fairly large dessert spoon full, and the obvious winner for him is the Salted Choc, followed by Bana-Norty.

Tim was left with little more than scrapings, but that was enough for him to fall in love with the rather zingy Chia Me Up, and was slightly miffed to see it disappear whilst helping with the photographs before he got a chance to confirm that was indeed his favourite. He did however get to try both the Salted Choc and the Bana-Norty, and and although not generally a chocy fan, was quietly more than impressed with both offerings.

Big thanks to Elspeth for giving us the chance to try her newly launched puds and we’d definitely recommend these to our vegan-hungry followers!

Vegan Norty Puds will be available at the upcoming VegfestUK Brighton event on March 24-25 at the Brighton Centre.
