Radical Veganism at VegfestUK Brighton 2019 - full lineup confirmed

Radical Veganism at VegfestUK Brighton 2019 - full lineup confirmed

| by Editor | Posted in VegfestUK Brighton 2019

VegfestUK is thrilled to welcome back the Radical Veganism area at this year’s Brighton event on March 23-24 at the Brighton Centre.

Kindly hosted by Christopher Sebastian and vegan media network VGN News co-founder Tom Lane, this area includes talks and panels exploring why it's necessary to address veganism and animal rights as an interconnected social movement.

Topics to be covered include intersecting forms of discrimination such as ableism, racism and speciesism, addressing the pressing issue of climate change, as well as ways of working with the media to help the oppressed, with a special VGN live podcast towards the end of the event on Sunday.

Making a special appearance in the Radical Veganism area is Dr. Casey Taft, professor of psychiatry and co-founder of Vegan Publishers. Casey is an internationally recognised psychologist and clinical researcher in the area of family relationships and abuse prevention, and has applied the principles of his work to the field of animal advocacy and vegan outreach, and has recently authored “Millennial Vegan,” “Motivational Methods for Animal Advocacy,” and “Trauma-Informed Treatment and Prevention of Intimate Partner Violence.”

There will also be a special screening of the BAFTA Award nominated film 73 Cows, directed by award-winning director Alex Lockwood (who will be giving an interview after the film screening). The documentary provides snippets from the journey of Jay Wilde, the “first farmer in the UK to trade beef farming for sustainable organic vegan farming,” as he and his wife Katja undergo the unheard-of transition.
