VegfestUK are thrilled to announce the first Pro-Intersectional Vegan Conference, to be held in the UK, at London in October, with a number of leading global pro-intersectional speakers already confirmed.

The conference will be aiming to look at a number of issues and topics, including an introduction to the concept of pro-intersectionality, how the concept originated, as well as questions such as

  • How “easy” is it actually to be vegan?

  • Does veganism have the image of belonging to privileged groups only?

  • How do multiple forms of oppression entangle and manifest for marginalised social groups?

  • What are the barriers facing some communities to go vegan?

These are topics of intense interest in the year when VegfestUK, organisers of some of Europe's top vegan festivals right now, are staging an inaugural Pro-Intersectional Vegan Conference, with a number of speakers from various social groups discussing these subjects with a wide audience.

Amongst the confirmed speakers of the show are contributors of Black Vegans Rock, a social project founded to showcase the achievements of black vegans, Those who will be speaking at the conference include:

  • BVR founder Aph Ko,
  • Vegan Publishers staff writer Christopher-Sebastian McJetters,
  • Sistah Vegan's Dr. A. Breeze Harper,

plus more speakers TBA.

Other speakers of interest include

  • Dr. Kim Socha, of Progress for Science and Minnesota Animal Liberation
  • Dr. Casey Taft of Vegan Publishers, author of the recently released book “Motivational Methods for Vegan Advocacy”,
  • lauren Ornelas, of the Food Empowerment Project
  • Sarah K. Woodcock, founder of the Advocacy of Veganism Society
  • Omowale Adewale, Boxing & Kickboxing Champion and author of "An Introduction to Veganism and Agricultural Globalism"
  • Katrina Fox, author, business and media coach from Vegan Business Media
  • Joe Brydon, of the Animal Alliance
  • Dr. Roger Yates, of the Vegan Information Project

with more speakers TBA in the coming months, on the show website http://london.vegfest.co.uk/intersectional

The organisers of VegfestUK added:

“We're privileged to be hosting what we believe to be the UK's first-ever Pro-intersectional Vegan Conference. Our events have always been very inclusive and we’re lucky to live and work in some really tolerant and evolved communities in the UK. We found our understanding of pro-intersectionality to be a really useful concept in helping join the dots between different forms of oppression and privilege. We’re very happy as an event to host such a wide diversity of hugely talented and influential speakers from around the globe.”

The Pro-intersectional Vegan Conference takes place on the Sunday part of VegfestUK London, which returns to Olympia London in its 4th year in 2016. Other features at the show include: a Vegan Athletes Summit on the Saturday, a Health Summit, an Activists Summit, a Cinema, standup comedy, on top of 230 stalls, 15 caterers, kids activities, a Teen Zone, a Mature Zone and music to create a truly inclusive and vibrant experience for all.

Advance tickets to the whole VegfestUK event will go on sale from August 2016 onwards, with special offers running for limited periods.
